Purpose of the petition

Request to declare October 3, 2025, a national holiday We, the undersigned, citizens and residents of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, respectfully submit this petition to request the declaration of Friday, October 3, 2025, as a national holiday, in honor of the accession to the throne of His Royal Highness Prince Guillaume, the future Grand Duke of Luxembourg. This historic event represents a unique moment in the life of our nation-a peaceful and symbolic transition of power, embodying the stability and continuity of our constitutional monarchy. It is a day of national pride, reflection, and celebration, worthy of official recognition.

Reason for the petition

While we understand that public festivities are planned for Saturday, October 4, we firmly believe that proclaiming a public holiday on the actual day of the accession would: Allow the public to follow and fully participate in official ceremonies; Strengthen national unity and civic engagement; Pay tribute to the reign of His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri and welcome the new sovereign with dignity. We therefore ask you to reconsider your position and give this historic day the recognition it deserves.
