Purpose of the petition
A clear legal regulation in Luxembourg: E-scooters should only be permitted in public spaces for individuals aged 16 and over - as is already the case for many other types of vehicles.
Reason for the petition
In Luxembourg, electric scooters (e-scooters) are becoming increasingly popular - including among children and teenagers. Unfortunately, this trend is accompanied by a rise in accidents and risky situations in traffic. Many minors underestimate the speed and dangers of these vehicles, and often lack protective measures such as helmets or sufficient traffic experience. We demand a legal minimum age of 16 years for the use of electric scooters in public spaces in Luxembourg - regardless of their power or maximum speed.

Motivation of the general interest of the petition: Au Luxembourg, les trottinettes électriques (e-scooters) gagnent en popularité - y compris auprès des enfants et des adolescents. Malheureusement, cette tendance s'accompagne d'une augmentation du nombre d'accidents et de situations dangereuses dans la circulation. De nombreux mineurs sous-estiment la vitesse et les risques liés à ces véhicules, et il manque souvent des mesures de protection telles que le port du casque ou une expérience suffisante de la circulation. Nous demandons l'instauration d'un âge minimum légal de 16 ans pour l'utilisation des trottinettes électriques dans l'espace public au Luxembourg - indépendamment de leur puissance ou de leur vitesse maximale.
