Strengthening Luxembourgish as a mandatory integration language to be learned in Luxembourg

Public petition

4004

Submission date 12/03/2026

PURPOSE : The Luxembourgish language is a central element of the national identity and social cohesion of Luxembourg. According to Article 4 of the Constitution of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Luxembourgish is the national language of the country. However, in everyday life it is increasingly observed that communication in Luxembourgish becomes difficult or even impossible. This concerns not only the public sector, but also many areas of daily life. In sensitive situations in particular, it is important that people can express themselves in their own language and also be understood. This applies especially in: • hospitals and healthcare institutions • retirement homes and care facilities • schools and childcare structures for children and young people • pharmacies • shops and services • public administrations • and many other areas

Maintaining the labeling of products containing genetically modified organisms (GMO)

Public petition

3894

Submission date 05/12/2025

PURPOSE : 20 or 25 years ago, many persons and organizations were opposed to genetically modified organisms (GMO); the result was a prudent approach concerning human and livestock food and pharmaceutics. Until now, genetically modified organisms were prohibited in normal human food. Only in livestock food, pharmaceutics and non-food applications they were allowed, but a clear indication was required. Without any mandate of the population (no party program, no referendum, nor any other questioning of the citizens), our EU representants agreed on diminishing restrictions on GMOs, and above all, abolished the labeling requirement of products containing GMOs. The petition calls on our country to oppose this agreement and refrain from transposing this directive into national law.»).
